Career lessons from this female powerhouse.
Tina Vissem is the Corporate Relations Manager at the University of Sydney Business School, which she joined in 2014.
Looking back at Tina’s career journey, she started in the PR space back in Germany, before she landed her dream role at the University of Sydney.
Today, she joins us to reflect on what she’s learnt along the way.
1. Growing up, what did you want to be?
I always wanted to become a teacher — and a fairy… guess I tried to combine both and do magic in helping students find their best career start and offer them lots of corporate experiences.
2. What were some of your first and most memorable jobs?
I started as PR consultant in Germany and really enjoyed working in a fast-paced, creative environment… after coming to Australia I worked as Event and Membership Manager at the German-Australian Chamber of Commerce: what an amazing job supporting bilateral trade and creating an interactive network and forum for German subsidiaries in Australia.
Most rewarding job, however, is my current role at USYD as Corporate Relationship Manager liaising with companies to offer our Master of Management/CEMS students great corporate experience and ideally a career perspective.
3. How did your path take you into your current role?
I saw the job ad and knew it was my ideal role, applied and got the job.
4. Best aspects about working with Hyper Anna?
The wonderful team and corporate culture at Hyper Anna certainly reflected in the success of the company and also our collaboration.
5. What are some of your passions in life? Favourite things?
I love yoga and music, living close to the ocean, amazing beaches and national parks — but my biggest passion is my daughter with whom I love to spend as much time as possible; everything sparkles and is full of fun and magic being around her…
